Watercom’s Hossein Ansari brings Urban Stormwater Design expertise to UTS Engineering students

Watercom’s Hossen Ansari (Technical Manager & Principal Engineer) lectures and guides postgraduate students in Urban Stormwater Design at UTS.
Watercom is passionate about fostering academic partnerships and sharing industry expertise to advance the field of engineering.
Technical Manager and Principal Engineer Hossein Ansari’s recent work collaborating with the University of Technology Sydney exemplifies this commitment. Over several weeks, Hossein lectured and mentored postgraduate students in the subject Urban Stormwater Design in the Faculty of Engineering & IT at UTS.
The subject trains students to design various urban drainage systems, including property, street pipe, trunk drainage, culverts, on-site detention (OSD) systems, water sensitive urban design (WSUD) and more. It also contributes to Engineers Australia’s Stage 1 Competencies.
Across both online and in-person sessions, Hossein focused on sharing industry expertise about hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, stormwater design, street drainage systems and On-Site Detention (OSD) system modelling using DRAINS.
It has been an incredibly rewarding experience to share practical industry knowledge, guide students through hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, and see their enthusiasm for stormwater design.
