Frequently Asked Questions

What is a DRAINS Model Consultation?

A DRAINS Model Consultation is a one-on-one online session for personal support with your model(s) and use of DRAINS software. For ultimate flexibility, consultations can be purchased in various blocks of time. During the session, you’ll work on your DRAINS Model with a qualified specialist engineer.

How do I book a consultation?

Easy! Book 1 or 2 hour sessions instantly with your credit card or pay offline by requesting an invoice.

Or buy a discounted bulk package via invoice which can be used to book available sessions as needed within 12 months of purchase.

What can we cover during a consultation?

We can provide general advice, guidance and troubleshooting for your models and use of DRAINS software.

However, it’s important to note that we make no representations about the suitability of your model for your specific project. We’ll only work with the data you’ve given us.

Consultations are not an alternative to undertaking formal DRAINS training, and we assume that you have a competent level of DRAINS modelling and design experience.

How will the session run?

Easy! Once you’ve booked a consultation, we’ll send you a confirmation email with a link to join a Microsoft Teams meeting at the agreed time. You’ll need a headset, microphone and camera (optional) for the session, plus a licenced version of DRAINS software.

Depending on what you’d like to discuss, we may request to share screens to work together. Or we can simply chat – it’s up to you.

Can my colleagues join the session too?

Sure! When making a booking, you can invite one additional guest to join the consultation.

How can I share my DRAINS Model(s) with you?

When you make a booking, we’ll send you a link to upload your DRAINS model(s) and any other relevant material you’d like to refer to during your session. Please upload these at least 2 hours before your scheduled consultation.

How is this different to Technical Support for DRAINS software?

Software Support is provided to customers with a DRAINS Subscription or active Maintenance plan if they are having software-related issues with DRAINS. This generally includes times where DRAINS may not be operating as expected.

Meanwhile, a DRAINS Model Consultation is most useful when a user may have trouble working out how to:

  • model a complex situation,
  • apply best-practice modelling,
  • problem-solve a drainage problem to achieve a particular modelling objective,
  • or for general one-on-one support with modelling.

What if I need to reschedule?

No worries. You can reschedule at any point with at least one business days’ notice.

What our customers say

Wow – an incredibly valuable session! It was immensely helpful to understand what exactly I was asking from my DRAINS model and how and why it was resulting in these outputs. Thanks!

The private consultation with an engineer has saved me a LOT of time trying to model this project in DRAINS and figure it out on my own.  Highly recommended and efficient.
