If you missed our recent Technical Webinar on ‘ARR 4.2 Climate Change Considerations in Stormwater Modelling’ or just want a recap, you can now watch the full recording online
The v4.2 release of the Australian Rainfall & Runoff (ARR) Guidelines marks a pivotal shift in modelling climate change impacts, particularly in rainfall and loss calculations.
On 18 March 2025, Watercom hosted a Live Technical Webinar to explore the impacts of the ARR updates on stormwater modelling, and to provide practical guidance on applying the new methodologies in real-world scenarios.
With almost 1,000 registrations and a deluge of questions for the Q&A session, it was great to see the incredible amount of interest in this topic.
Presented by Hossein Ansari (Technical Manager at Watercom), the Webinar was followed by a Q&A session which featured Dr Benjamin Kus (Chief Executive Officer), Dr Ashis Dey (General Manager), Jonathan Klaric (Senior Software Solutions Developer) and Hossein Ansari of Watercom.
Key Topics Covered
- Climate Change Projections: Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs) and their role in predicting changes in rainfall intensity.
- Case Study: Analysis of a residential development, comparing pre- and post-development scenarios, including impervious area changes and critical storm durations.
- Stormwater Design Impacts: Evaluating detention basin design requirements, failure risks under various SSP scenarios, and implications of inadequate designs.
- Design Guidelines: Practical recommendations for selecting SSPs based on project timelines and performing sensitivity analyses.
